Personal Brightening is a laser treatment program designed to even out skin tone by breaking up excess pigment, calming visible redness and supporting skin recovery in one plan. At Yaan Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, it combines three elements, the Pico laser, the V laser and LDM Recovery Therapy, which Yaan describes as a combination exclusive to the clinic.

"Personal" is the key word. Pigment problems differ a lot between people and between Asian, Caucasian and darker skin types, so the program is built one-to-one by medical professionals with more than 16 years of clinical experience.

What is Personal Brightening?

Personal Brightening is a tailored combination of Pico laser for brown pigment, V laser for redness and blood vessels, and LDM Recovery Therapy to soothe the skin. Your doctor decides which elements, and which settings, you need.

Not every patient needs every step. Yaan Clinic's own FAQ notes that the V laser is not always required: if your concern is purely brown pigment, the plan may focus on the Pico laser. If redness or post-acne red marks are the issue, V laser takes a bigger role.

Which lasers are used and what do they do?

The Pico laser treats pigment and tone, while the V laser treats redness and vascular concerns. LDM then calms the skin. Each laser has several wavelengths so treatment can be matched to the depth and color of the problem.

Component Technology Main targets
Pico laser (PicoPlus) Picosecond and nanosecond modes; 4 wavelengths: 1064, 532, 595 and 660 nm; FDA and KFDA approved Melasma, freckles, sun spots, brown acne marks, dull tone, pores
V laser 532 nm KTP and 1064 nm, Genesis modes; gentle heating to 40–43°C; KFDA, FDA and CE marked Redness, visible vessels, red acne marks, texture, fine lines
LDM Recovery Therapy High-density ultrasound Soothing, hydration and recovery after laser

The V laser uses a four-stage sapphire cooling system to protect the skin surface. Yaan Clinic also operates Revlite SI, another pigment laser, which your doctor may consider. See the full equipment list.

What can Personal Brightening treat?

It is used for melasma, freckles, sun spots, brown and red acne marks, redness, dull or uneven tone, enlarged pores, fine lines and rough texture.

  • Melasma – a stubborn, hormone-linked pigment; lasers can improve it, but it often recurs and needs maintenance. Learn more in our melasma guide.
  • Freckles and sun spots – usually respond well to Pico wavelengths.
  • Acne marks – brown marks (post-inflammatory pigmentation) respond to Pico; red marks to V laser.
  • Redness and vessels – V laser targets hemoglobin.
  • Dullness, pores and texture – low-energy toning passes refresh the skin overall.

Personal Brightening vs Pico toning vs laser toning: what is the difference?

Pico toning and laser toning are single-laser treatments for tone and pigment. Personal Brightening is a broader program that can combine Pico, V laser and LDM in one session to treat brown pigment and redness together.

Personal Brightening Pico toning Laser toning
Lasers Pico + V laser (+ LDM) Pico laser Pigment and tone lasers
Brown pigment Yes Yes Yes
Redness and vessels Yes (V laser) Limited Limited
Recovery support LDM included Optional Optional
Best for Mixed concerns Pigment and tone General tone maintenance

Is there downtime? Is it painful?

Yaan Clinic states that you can return to daily activities immediately after Personal Brightening. Most people describe low-energy toning as a light snapping or warm sensation.

Typically, mild redness can appear for a few hours, and darker spots may look slightly darker or flake before fading. Settings are adjusted for sensitive skin. Your doctor will confirm comfort options at consultation.

Good to know: Pigment can return if its cause continues, for example sun exposure or hormones. Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is essential during and after a laser course. Recurring pigment issues depend on the underlying cause, so results vary and maintenance may be needed. A new, changing or irregular dark spot should be checked by a board-certified dermatologist before any laser treatment.

Who is a good candidate?

Good candidates have pigment, redness or dullness they want to even out and can protect their skin from the sun during treatment. Sensitive skin can often be treated with adjusted settings.

Laser treatment may be postponed if you have a fresh tan, active skin infection, or certain medications that increase light sensitivity. Tell your doctor about recent peels, retinoids and pregnancy.

What happens during a Personal Brightening session?

  1. Consultation and skin analysis – the doctor examines your pigment and redness; 3D Meta-Vu analysis may be used to map them.
  2. Personal protocol – wavelengths, modes and the role of each laser are chosen for your skin.
  3. Pico laser – targets brown pigment and tone.
  4. V laser (if needed) – targets redness and vessels with sapphire cooling.
  5. LDM Recovery Therapy – calms and hydrates the skin before you leave.

How much does Personal Brightening cost at Yaan Clinic in Seoul?

Personal Brightening is a custom combination, so its total depends on which lasers and how many sessions you need. At Yaan Clinic, the individual treatments it draws on are listed per session below.

Treatment at Yaan Clinic Guide price per session (KRW)
Pico toning 150,000
Pico Fraxel 150,000
V-laser (vessels, pigment, redness) 100,000

For international patients: Pigment treatment works best as a series, so a single trip may only start the process. Ask your doctor whether sessions can be grouped during a longer stay or spread across return visits, and pack a high-SPF sunscreen and hat for sightseeing. Why choose Yaan Clinic?

At Yaan Clinic, Personal Brightening is performed directly by medical professionals, using FDA- and KFDA-approved lasers and a one-to-one protocol rather than a fixed menu.

Yaan also invests in recovery as part of the treatment, not an extra: LDM Recovery Therapy is built into the program to calm heat and support the skin barrier after laser. Because the clinic runs several pigment and vascular lasers, including PicoPlus, V laser and Revlite SI, your doctor can choose the tool that fits your skin instead of forcing every patient onto one device. Read about our medical team, and our safety standards, and see the dull and uneven skin tone guide for other options.

Frequently asked questions

Is Personal Brightening safe for sensitive skin?

Usually yes. Yaan Clinic adjusts laser energy and settings for sensitive skin, and LDM Recovery Therapy is included to calm the skin afterward. Your doctor will check your skin first and may start with gentler settings.

What is the difference between the Pico laser and the V laser?

The Pico laser targets brown pigment and overall tone, such as melasma, freckles and brown acne marks. The V laser targets redness and blood vessels, such as flushing and red acne marks. Personal Brightening uses one or both depending on your skin.

Do I always need the V laser?

No. Yaan Clinic notes that the V laser is not always necessary. If your concern is mainly brown pigment, your plan may focus on the Pico laser. V laser is added when redness or vascular issues are part of the problem.

Will my pigmentation come back after treatment?

It can. Whether pigment recurs depends on its cause, such as sun exposure, hormones or inflammation. Melasma in particular often needs maintenance. Strict sun protection helps keep results, and your doctor can plan follow-up sessions.

How many Personal Brightening sessions will I need?

Yaan Clinic does not publish a fixed number because it depends on the type and depth of pigment. Pigment lasers generally work over a course of sessions. Yaan shows before-and-after results at three months. Your doctor will estimate a plan at consultation.

Can Personal Brightening be combined with other treatments?

Yes. Yaan Clinic says Personal Brightening can be combined with other treatments, such as skin boosters or HydraFacial, depending on your goals. Your doctor will plan the order and timing so your skin recovers properly between steps.

How much does Personal Brightening cost at Yaan Clinic?

Personal Brightening is tailored, so the total depends on your plan. At Yaan Clinic, pico toning is ₩150,000, V-laser ₩100,000 and LDM ₩80,000 per session. International patients pay the same price as Korean patients, and the final price is confirmed at consultation.
